Vid: Winning Sometimes

Okay, here's the thing: I realize that I dedicate practically everything to my 'net spouse,' [info]voiceless009. And I realize that when you dedicate practically everything to one person over and over and over again, it starts to lose its meaning. People begin to think: "Oh. Well, yeah. That's just what gets written after 'Dedication.' It's a lot like putting 'The End' at the bottom of a fic..."

But the thing is that in this case, I mean it very, very literally when I say that if not for [info]voiceless009, this vid would've actually not been made. Why? Because this goddess o' mine gave me an incredible--absolutely incredible!--present back on November 27th (henceforth, one of my favouritest days) for use in WMM. She watched me salivate over it and then she just... got it for me. Can you believe that? Best. Friend. Ever.

So! If you like it: Bow down before [info]voiceless009. If you hate it: Bow down before my stupefying ability to screw up something good. ^_^

This is a darkish!Lex CLex vid with several other characters thrown in to further the CLex (Lana warning! Ew!). It also goes very constructed reality at the end there. I mean for it to have a happy ending (don't I always?), but in a rather darkish way.

This was great, the lyrics fit the scenes so well (or the other way around) :-D. I really like the Jason/Lana twist at the end.

Wow, you did such a great job with the storytelling aspects of this. The only time I was even slightly confused was when Jason first appeared on the scene. But then I saw that it was Lex setting him up to meet with Lana in Paris, and I had to squee. And then in the end, when Lex climbs up to the loft to console the jilted Clark...genius! :D

Oh, and I like all of the use of the zooms and pans and various effects. Did Voiceless get you some kind of effects software to use with WMM?

Thanks--it's the story I most love about this one. I was actually kind of wishing I had one more chorus at the end there, but 5 1/2 minutes is kind of pushing it as it is. heh

Did Voiceless...?

She sure did. Effects and transitions and all kinds of loverliness. I was completely dying over it when I found it, but am trying to save mucho dinero, so I had to resist. She gave in for me. Can't say enough good things about the pack, either. So many different and exciting options to work with! I look forward to using it further in future vids (though I'll try not to go so overboard with pan/zooming next time. heh).

Well, I already told you some of this a while ago, but I really do love LOVE (seriously. it's almost carnal) the technical things you do in this vid. The whole opening is so...emotive, and you know that my particular fav is the slowly coming into focus shot of Clark. Really sets up the viewers' empathy with Lex, which is pretty darn cool when he's being so eevuhl.

Considering our recent talks on timing, I have to say you can't have THAT much to complain about. The part with Clark returning Lana's necklace is just perfect (technically and emotionally). ...You're now going to give me a huge lecture on how WMM sucks and you spent hours on it, aren't you? I totally just set myself up, didn't I?

I don't know what else I can say, except... I love it, and I can't wait until next time. Oh! And you ended up beating me after all - I got my vid done first, but I didn't use any new effects. You win.

You are a genius. That has to be the absolute best vid I've ever seen. Before this, I didn't even know fan vids could have plots because I've certainly never seen one before. It was amazing and thanks for sharing it.

Okay, I have to start this off this way:

Usually when I download vids, it's enough for me to see they're clex. I don't always notice the name of the song or the artist. That was the case this time.

So when it started up, and in the first second I'm like--that voice! The second second--omg she used Majandra! What a brilliant, brilliant thing to do. I can't believe now that I ever listened to that song and *didn't* think of Clark and Lex. It was so damn perfect, every single second--eerily so--and it was like the union of the things I love.

so thank you thank you! this absolutely made my day, and I am going to rec it at my lj this second. (And this has to be the first time I have replied to a clex vid with an icon that's not clex, but it just seems so appropriate.)

Yay! You like Majandra! And: Yay! You liked my vid! hehe Majandra's music is just the greatest. I've only heard her sing on Roswell (twice, wasn't it? I wish I could get clean versions of those songs), and on The Sicks CD. I don't suppose you have anything I might not have heard, do ya...? I wish she would come out with a new CD... Le sigh.

I find Majandra's music extremely Lex. I mean Lex to the point that... perhaps Lex is her muse or something. Honestly, it's incredible.

I always love fanvids with plot, and this one was especially brilliant. Everything from the song choice to the use of scenes to the special effects was awesome. And may I just say that the last minute of the vid, with Jason or whoever the coach's name is (I haven't been in Smallville fandom in a longass time) was utterly brilliant. There I am, bopping along, going "this is pretty freakin' cool" and then that happens and I'm all, "Holy crap, this is AWESOME."

I love the use of freezing and closing in to mark changes, and the narrative worked really well, even with a longish song. Great use of the early episodes, especially the scene at the farmer's market.
